Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a type of “talk therapy” and is perhaps the oldest form of therapy used today. This type of therapy is based on Freudian psychology developed by the famous psychologist, Sigmund Freud.
Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in the client’s present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are self-awareness and an understanding of how the past influences present behavior.
Psychodynamic Therapy is ideal for survivors of narcissistic abuse who want to understand how their past set them up for getting involved with someone with narcissistic personality disorder. This type of therapy helps survivors explore the beliefs, fears, desires and childhood experiences that set them up for a narcissistic relationship.
