Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
As in all of the Solution-Focused therapies, a lot of time is not taken in looking at the past in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). With this approach, work is aimed at finding solutions to the problem in the present and exploring the client’s hope for the future to find a quicker resolution to their problems. This therapy method is based on the belief that the client has some sense of what they need to do to improve their own life, and with effective direction, coaching and questioning, they are capable of identifying the best solution for them.
This approach is most effective when the client has a clear understanding of what their problem is and just needs a solution to the problem. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is often used with problems related to life changes and transitions, situational problems such as domestic abuse, relationship problems, and child behavioral problems.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy may be used in concert with other types of therapy or as a solo clinical approach.
As the name implies, most Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is short-term, lasting six weeks or less. If you believe Solution-Focused Brief therapy might be right for your problem or situation, contact Phoenix Counseling and Trauma Treatment Center today at (856) 213-5584.
